If you're practicing sight words, go beyond the run-of-the-mill flash cards with a craft-stick matching puzzle. You can tailor the words by grade level, and add more pairs as your kids become stronger readers.

To Make The Popsicle Stick Sight Word Puzzles You Will Need:

  • Coloured craft/popsicle sticks
  • Black permanent marker

How To Make The Popsicle Stick Sight Word Puzzles:

  1. Before you make the puzzles, choose some common sight words.

  2. Once you decide on the words you will be using, put two matching coloured popsicle sticks together and write one word on the two sticks using black permanent marker.

  3. Mix up all of the puzzle sticks and leave them out. Match one sight word puzzle to illustrate what the object of the activity is.

Notes:

After completing the puzzles, you could use the sticks to create letters and numbers.
